Stay in Overseas Departments and Regions or Overseas Territories
- What is a long stay visa?
French overseas Departments and Regions and French Overseas
Territories Visas:
Citizens of countries who must have a visa for Schengen States
also must have a visa for the Overseas Departments and Regions,
the Overseas Territories, the Overseas Territorial Communities
and New Caledonia.
The following countries or regions, exempt from the Schengen Visa,
however, however do need a visa for the Overseas Departments and
Regions, the Overseas Territories, the Overseas Territorial Communities
and New Caledonia:
- Brazil
- Bulgaria
- Hong Kong SAR
- Israel
- Romania
- Venezuela*
The following nationalities, exempt from the Short Stay visa,
however, however do need a visa for the Overseas Territories,
the Overseas Territorial Communities and New Caledonia when
their stay exceeds 30 days;
- Anguilla*
- Argentina
- Bermuda
- Bolivia
- Brunei
- Canada
- Cayman Islands*
- Chile
- Costa Rica
- Croatia
- Czech Republic

(*) only passports with the following mention "The holder
has the right of abode in the United Kingdom".
Short stay
The documents to provide for a stay shorter than 90 days
in the French Overseas Departments and Regions, the French Overseas
Territories, the French Overseas Territorial Communities and
New Caledonia are the same as if you were applying for a Schengen
visa.
Submission of visa application has to be done less than 90 days
before departure.
A Schengen visa does not allow his bearer to enter a French
Overseas Department or Region except if the visa sticker mentions
it. If you wish to travel to a French Overseas Department or
Region, you must tell it clearly to the submission officer when
applying to the FranceVisa Centre.
Long stay
The documents to provide for a long stay (over 90 days)
in the French Overseas Departments or Regions, the French Overseas
Territories, the French Overseas Territorial Communities and
New Caledonia are the same as if you were applying for a long
stay visit visa. Please note that consideration of a long stay
visa application for the French Overseas Territories can go
up to 6 months.
