Visas applications can be submitted at the earliest 90 days prior to the departure date to France
In order to avoid long queuing, we invite applicants to come and submit their visas applications on the scheduled appointment time.
Applicants arriving more than 30 minutes after the scheduled appointment time might have to reschedule a new appointment.

Information to visa applicants
From Friday February 26th 2010 on, some categories of visa applicants, who until now were submitted their visa applications directly at the Visa Section of the Consulate General of France in Shanghai, are invited to go to the France Visa Application Centre. (for more information, see the latest news)
In addition, and in approval with the Consulate General of France in Shanghai, the service fee charged by the company VFS will be increased from 200 RMB to 210 RMB from Friday, February 26th 2010 on, except for the categories above mentioned which benefit from an exemption

Successfully tested out in the French consular network abroad, visa outsourcing
is now introduced in Shanghai. From now on, the Consulate General of France
invites visa applicants living in Shanghai, Anhui, Jiangsu and Zhejiang
provinces, to apply for a visa at the France Visa Centre. This new procedure
has two main goals: ensure a better reception of applicants and give them
helpful advice on their application. This will also contribute to improve
conditions of visa applications consideration without further delay.

website. If you strictly follow its recommendations, you will be able to
complete correctly your visa application.

According to the decree Nr. 2008-1176 of November 13th 2008 related to
the competence of the consular area, immediately applicable; the Consulate
General of France in Shanghai can only issue, apart from exceptional cases duly
justified, visas to foreign nationals ordinarily residing in their consular
area. Which means, foreigners residing in the Municipality of Shanghai, Province
of Anhui, Jiangsu or Zhejiang
In order to verify the applicant's effective attachment to the consular area of
Shanghai, applicants are invited to present, when they'll apply for a visa, the
original and copy of one of the following document : hukou, identity card,
residence permit or temporary residence permit issued by the competent
authorities of Shanghai, Anhui, Jiangsu and Zhejiang.
Applicant who do not belong to the consular district of Shanghai are pleased to
